COEXISTENCE

THE MAABAD TENT

Efrat’s commitment to coexistence with our Arab neighbors is a critical priority for all our residents… and a point of pride for our community. We take seriously our reputation for advancing innovative initiatives to ensure that our city is one that builds bridges - not walls, fences or barriers. We work side-by-side with the Arab villages in the surrounding areas (where many Palestinians who are employed in the city, live and raise their families), to create opportunities and experiences for engaging one another, and the thousands of visitors who make their way to and through Judea every year. We constantly and consistently strive to serve as a model for coexistence across Israel and the greater Middle East.

Our new project, the Mabaad Tent, is one such exciting and exemplary opportunity for peaceful and productive Arab-Israeli exchange. In this authentic Bedouin tent, which will be erected in an open area between Efrat and the neighboring village of Wadi-Nis, visitors will be able to experience home-cooked Palestinian and Israeli food, traditional Arab coffee and tea, and feel the spirit of the region while listening to Arab and Israeli courtesy of local musicians, volunteer in the local villages and much more. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to educate oneself on the reality on the life in Judea for Israelis and Arabs alike, will allow both communities to increase employment opportunities through increased tourism, continue to work alongside one another as we have since the very first days of Efrat’s establishment in the region, and - most importantly - serve as frontline ambassadors for Israel and the world for the future of peace, prosperity and coexistence for all!

If you are interested in becoming a private, foundational, or corporate sponsor of the Maabad Tent by making a significant or recurring financial gift, or providing an in-kind donation for the tent’s construction or ongoing education program, please reach out to us at kefrat@efrat.muni.il. A full sponsorship of $100,200 includes naming or memorialization opportunities for the facility.
